We are pleased to welcome FILM RISS THEATER to our programme for the second episode of the theme Borders. FILM RISS THEATER overcomes not only the borders between the genres of theater and film but also geopolitical borders, constantly in the search of an interface between impossibilities. Based on their urge to jump from reality into another dimension, the collective performs juxtaposing layers of physical and digital presences. FILM RISS THEATER refers to their performances as IMPROVISIONEN, which they often stage at Schaubude Berlin.

Three years ago, the collective extended their multimedia-playground to the world of live stream and started working with artists from Gaza using the power of the digital realm. Performers in two different continents being "beamed up" onto one stage in Berlin, crossing any borders and checkpoints by creating a semi-reality which tells unheard stories using hand and feet, pictures, music and Babylonic confusions.

Opening a window to a new territory, FILM RISS THEATER invites the audience to send them photos of rooms and objects of yours before the show, which will be included in their stage-scenario at Apartment Project.

FILM RISS THEATER developed out of Miriam Sachs' theater collaboration with actors, musicians and other artists and, for some years now, scientists. Miriam Sachs is a trained actress, but her work has developed into more over time: She is the author of several novels and an illustrator/animator. Wir freuen uns, FILM RISS THEATER für die zweite Folge zum Thema "Grenzen" in unserem Programm begrüßen zu dürfen. FILM RISS THEATER überwindet nicht nur die Grenzen zwischen den Genres Theater und Film, sondern auch geopolitische Grenzen, ständig auf der Suche nach einer Schnittstelle zwischen Unmöglichkeiten. Basierend auf dem Drang, von der Realität in eine andere Dimension zu springen, performt das Kollektiv das Nebeneinanderstellen von Schichten physischer und digitaler Präsenzen. FILM RISS THEATER bezeichnet ihre Performances als IMPROVISIONEN, die sie häufig in der Schaubude Berlin aufführen.

Vor drei Jahren erweiterte das Kollektiv seine multimediale Spielwiese um die Welt des Live-Streams und begann mit Künstler*innen aus Gaza zu arbeiten, die die Kraft des digitalen Raums nutzen. Performer in zwei verschiedenen Kontinenten werden auf eine Bühne in Berlin "gebeamt" und überschreiten dabei alle Grenzen und Checkpoints, indem sie eine Halbrealität schaffen, die mit Händen und Füßen, Bildern, Musik und babylonischen Verwirrungen ungehörte Geschichten erzählt.

Um ein Fenster zu einem neuen Territorium zu öffnen, lädt FILM RISS THEATER das Publikum ein, ihnen vor der Show Fotos von Räumen und Objekten zu schicken, die in ihrem Bühnenszenario im Apartment Project genutzt werden.

FILM RISS THEATER entwickelte sich aus der Theater-Zusammenarbeit von Miriam Sachs mit Schauspielern, Musikern und anderen Künstlern und seit einigen Jahren auch Wissenschaftlern. Miriam Sachs ist gelernte Schauspielerin, ihre Arbeit entwickelte sich jedoch im Lauf der Zeit zu mehr: Sie ist Verfasserin mehrerer Romane und Illustratorin/Trickfilmerin. Chromatic Wednesdays is a culmination of our recent collective consciousness — the pandemic has disrupted our ability, creativity, and production. How do we as artists and intellectuals develop alternative forms of thinking and articulate this unclear existential situation? How can we get out of this limbo? How can we expel it?

Addressing these questions, Apartment Project developed a program titled Chromatic Wednesdays, which consists of 33 individual events, that will take place within eleven months starting from December 2, 2020. Each month will revolve around specific themes on current issues such as; immigration, pandemic, ecology, sustainability, gentrification, gender, survival, boundaries, geography, freedom of speech, and future. On three Wednesdays per month, artists, musicians, performers, scholars, scientists, and cultural practitioners will be invited to collaborate and share their research, practices, and experiences. The space will host a variety of events such as; concerts, performances, workshops, film screenings, lectures, exhibitions, readings, panel discussions, and dinner gatherings.

Chromatic Wednesdays ist ein Höhepunkt unseres neuesten kollektiven Bewusstseins - die Pandemie hat unsere Fähigkeit, Kreativität und Produktion gestört. Wie können wir als Künstler und Intellektuelle alternative Formen des Denkens entwickeln und diese unklare existenzielle Situation artikulieren? Wie können wir aus diesem Schwebezustand herauskommen? Wie können wir sie vertreiben?

Um diese Fragen zu beantworten, entwickelte Apartment Project ein Programm mit dem Titel "Chromatic Wednesdays", das aus 33 Einzelveranstaltungen besteht, die innerhalb von elf Monaten ab dem 11. November 2020 stattfinden werden. Jeder Monat dreht sich um spezifische Themen zu aktuellen Themen wie: Einwanderung, Pandemie, Ökologie, Nachhaltigkeit, Gentrifizierung, Geschlecht, Überleben, Grenzen, Geographie, Redefreiheit und Zukunft. An drei Mittwochen pro Monat werden Künstler, Musiker, Performer, Wissenschaftler und Kulturschaffende eingeladen, zusammenzuarbeiten und ihre Forschungen, Praktiken und Erfahrungen auszutauschen. Der Raum wird eine Vielzahl von Veranstaltungen wie Konzerte, Performances, Workshops, Filmvorführungen, Vorträge, Ausstellungen, Lesungen, Podiumsdiskussionen und Dinner-Versammlungen beherbergen.
