** SYMPOSIUM
What You Don’t See
------------------------------------------------------------

Save the Date
Sunday October 12, 2019
The What You Don’t See symposium brings together artists, designers, scientists, poets and theorists to reflect on the implications and possibilities of darkness: from dark matter to blackness, from blackouts to burnouts, from night to day, from microbes to stars. The notion of darkness is often understood as the lack of illumination or absence of light, yet in this conversation it will be considered in its entanglement with the economy, ecology, health, technology and culture.
Confirmed participants include:
Ramon Amaro
Ramon Amaro is a lecturer in the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London and a researcher in the areas of machine learning, the philosophy of mathematics, black ontologies, and philosophies of being. He contributed to the Dutch Pavilion at the XXII Triennale di Milano with Darkness, as a First Act of Creation.
Leanne Wijnsma

Its immersive nature lends itself to an investigation in to human awareness and the impact of new technologies on individual and collective behaviour. She contributed to the Dutch Pavilion at the XXII International Triennale di Milano with Wildlife.
Helga Schmid
Helga Schmid is a London-based artist and designer. She is the founder of Uchronia, a platform for critical and imaginative thought on our contemporary time crisis, challenging current perceptions and offering alternative ways of being in time.
