Tue 21 March: movLab #13 / Sonic Code Sessions #33

*Community meetups / 19:30*

Join us for the next community meeting of the *movLab* - a place for
researching ways to digitize motion and the human body and to make the data
accessible for further use in VR, gaming, stage performance or art. We are
building sensors, writing code and explore new ways of moving.

The *Sonic Code Sessions* aim to provide a time and place for self directed
and collaborative learning + experimentation. If you would like to free
yourself from the limitations that come with traditional music software,
this is for you!

*Community meetups supported by the Senatskanzlei - Kulturelle
Angelegenheiten Spartenübergreifende Förderung künstlerischer und
kultureller Projekte*
Thu 23 March: DeLight pre-opening: a.melodie / AtomTone #280

Doors: 19:30 / Start time: 20:00
*Entrance 6-10 euro (up to your offer)*

*Pre-opening of the deLight sustainable light-art festival with:*

*a.melodie by Mélodie **Melak** Fenez*
a.melodie consists of self-made synthesizers that are hooked up to an array
of plants. The plants, who have their own unique timber, shape the sound of
each oscillator. Because of physiological reactions, the plants modulate
the frequency they produce, creating an alive and ever morphing sound. On
stage, a.melodie composes with the sounds produced and modulated live by
the plants. Her sonic image evolves from minimalism to noise drone. Through
the use of technology, she puts sounds where she cannot put words, in her
interaction with vegetal elements.

*AtomTone by Jiří Suchánek*
AtomTone is an experimental project based on sonification of atomic data.
Exact light frequencies of atomic spectra lines are recalculated into sound
frequencies. Each element has its own specific spectral chord with which I
am further working and shaping with buffering, filtering, waveshaping etc.

The shows take place in Spektrum during a pre-opening of the *deLight
sustainable **light-art** festival* which will last until March 27. deLight
is an environmentally-oriented light-art festival promoting sustainable
lifestyles through contemporary art: we are establishing a new form of
communication between eco-institutes, eco-initiatives, and audiences.

Sat 25 March: Jeremy Bernstein + The Empty Brothers - Formal Conduct #281
Doors: 19:30 / Start time: 20:00
*Entrance 7-12 euro (up to your offer)*

*Audiovisual performance night with: Jeremy Bernstein + The Empty Brothers
- Formal Conduct*
Jeremy Bernstein will perform his audio-video piece "Another Long Piece
About a Famous Singer (Stardust)", featuring a young and somewhat
granulated Frank Sinatra. The work explores the reanimation of the dead. A
fresh composition, "Love Form N", for hardware with drooping voltages will
round out the evening.

The Empty Brothers: To some, it is not a thing: it is quite explicit in
disclaiming such an interest and tells us that they are no longer Freudian.
Self-preservation, self-repetition, self-multiplication are necessarily,
then, the left hemisphere being longer, wider and generally larger, as well
as the name suggests, indirect proofs can be accomplished only by becoming
great and temporarily satisfying. The emissary became contemptuous of his
human activities, the inner ellipse would be required as it is a by-product
of radar technology, and that unceasing aim of Nature to the audio signals
sounding natural. It is also rational. All of the original claim follows.

Sunday 26 March: La Muerte Roja - Hekate #282
Doors: 19:30 / Start time: 20:00
*Entrance 6-10 euro (up to your offer)*

*HEKATE Collective Sound Video Screening and Concert Curated by CORPO 6 *
Fabio Campagna / Tim van den Oudenhoven / Sabine Mittermeier / Alejandro
Moncada / La Muerte Roja

For this collective sound video screening night, La Muerte Roja will
present for the first time “Hekate”. A new composition which will score,
live, “7 5 12 -- M8”, a short movie projected in loop. The interference of
the music ambiance within the slow and continuous repetition of the
peripheral, liminal urbanscape of Berlin – Lichtenberg - will produce a
different episteme of its anthropological and symbolic facts.

Opening up new perspectives on its identity. La Muerte Roja, a tonal atonal
drone improv open ensemble, based in Berlin since 2012, will be formed for
this evening by: Fabio Campagna, Sabine Mittermeir, Bianca Ringwald and
Angel Sanchez Cervera.

Open call: Dark Technology / Dark Web

While smart is the keyword of the omni-connection through the
internet of things and social media, dark is the state of our relation with
the user-oriented technology that operates the data collection of
our online choices and issues our privacy and self determination in the web.

Like never before, we are spectators of an effort of sense-making within the
massive amount of data available, which is in urgent need of being
interpreted by controversial intelligent machines, such as hackers do when
they call them
systems of surveillance. In this digital space, the Dark Web extends into
grey-zone territory: banned by society as a container of illegal activities
while serving as a genesis of new subcultures.

The open call for this section of Dark Society aims to gather works that
unveil these technological dimensions while questioning the ability and
necessity for users to stay anonymous, hide their tracks or obfuscate their
surrounding systems of surveillance.

Proposals: alfredo at spektrumberlin.de (deadline 1 April 2017)

*SPEKTRUM* is a project space in Neukölln for idealisation, realisation and
exhibition of technology-based artworks, media-focused events and
futuristic utopias based on the principle "do-it-together-with-others". Above
all, we are an open space promoting participatory processes to co-define
and co-design a social and physical playground for curiosity and critical
understanding.
