Sun collaborations: A workshop introducing the cyanotype process
A workshop with artist Elizabeth McTernan.
17.02.2017 3-6pm
“Sun collaborations: A workshop introducing the cyanotype process”
workshop on cyanotype which is a photographic printing process producing
a cyan-blue print and can be performed on a variety of papers and
textiles. While the photo chemicals are painted onto the print surface
in a dark room, the print itself is made outside, under direct sunlight.
The process uses two chemicals: ammonium iron (III) citrate and
potassium ferricyanide, which are both safe to handle and easy to obtain.
Elizabeth has performed artistic research, over land and sea, in North
America, Europe, Russia, Central & Southeast Asia, and India, processing
it via actions, drawing, video/audio installation, storytelling, and
printmaking. Recent residencies include the RaumArs
Artist-in-Residence-Programme in Finland (spring 2016), Hilsbach Kunst
Kultur artist residency in Bavaria (fall 2016), and Nida Art Colony in
Lithuania (spring 2015). She received the 2014 Leitrim County Council
Residency Award (Ireland), the 2013 Danish International Visiting Artist
grant, and the 2012 Wassaic Project Education Fellowship (NY).

The Body of Dough
A workshop with artist Kim Dotty Hachmann
18.02.2017
3-8pm
How does the dough grow? What does it need for it? Discovering the
secrets of dough mixing and dough kneading. Together we want to acquire
this knowledge, then try to see how the dough can become a body and how
the body can become a dough. How can we transfer this principle to our
bodies? Through the hands of others feel our own body. How can these two
approaches become an artistic one, which is expressed in different forms
such as sculpture, photography, film or performance. The workshop also
serves the exchange of life recipes and mindfulness practice as a part
of kitchen magic.
From her very own experience female artist Kim Dotty Hachmann is
examining the combination of family life and artistic career. She is
questioning what society means today and experimenting with future
scenarios. In her practice she also colaborates with her children to
include their creativity potential and join forces.

Kitchenlab
TOP Association for the Promotion of Cultural Practice
For a couple of weeks >top Schillerpalais will turn into a public
biochemical lab developed by TOP association in order to propose a
platform for rediscovering knowledge, and along it, past, present and
future*. The lab arrangement of the kitchen provides an atmosphere for
discourses about the world and society, including cultural heritage and
scientific knowledge, fermentation and distillation, humans and other
living beings. It explores possibilities of a societal shift towards
understanding and consciousness of the human species as a balanced
element of the ecosystem we live by and within. Kitchenlab aims to
gather those interested in working between the studio, the kitchen, and
the laboratory, where food culture, experimental lab culture, and
artistic and creative practice overlap.
During transmediale Vorspiel 2017, the audience will be invited to join
Kitchenlab experiences with Mindaugas Gapševičius, Penka Mincheva,
Matthias Roth, Kim Dotty Hachmann, Elizabeth McTernan and Alice Morey.
