MadeByUs Workshop: 3D Modeling X 3D Printing

Why not start the New Year by learning new tools to incorporate into your
practice? You will finish this workshop with an overview of how to combine
3D modeling for 3D printing. After taking information from the physical
world, you will learn how to input it into Computer Aided Design (CAD)
software, then print it out back into the physical. You will leave this
workshop with a model that you have designed and printed yourself!

The workshop Creative coding is a powerful tool which allows one to create
expressive and complicated structures for audio-visual artworks. This art
practice where programming is used has started in 1960s and is widely used
nowadays. During our 5-day long workshop we will focus on learning the
visual side of the MaxMSP framework.
Workshop: Projection mapping with the Raspberry Pi

*Saturday 25 - Sunday 26 February from 10:00 - 16:00 *

Have you ever set up a permanent projection mapping installation and did
not want to leave your personal computer at the venue? If so, this workshop
is for you. You would like to make ten projection mapping objects, but your
budget is too low to buy Mac Pro's? No problem. You can solve that with
ofxPiMapper. It is an open source projection mapping software, an addon for
openFrameworks that runs on the Raspberry Pi. During this two-day workshop
by Krisjanis Rijnieks

you
will learn about projection mapping by using the ofxPiMapper.

Introduction to Arduino

In this Introduction to Arduino by Juan Duarte Regino you will learn the
basics to start with Physical Computing experiments, how to use sensors:
light, temperature, distance, and motion. and actuators: motors, solenoids,
speakers and LEDs. Also you will code your own programs based on simple
interactions controlled by a computer or within a standalone application
with the multipurpose and open source board.

Workshop Inhibition (algorithmic sound synthesis)

Are you interested in open-source software/hardware, programming,
single-board computers and electronics? Do you want to experiment with
analogue amplifiers, filters, machine learning, artificial intelligence,
data processing, algorithmic sound synthesis and paradigms of
brain-computer coupling? Do you want to make your own ‘intelligent’ headset
that will be capable of EEG (electroencephalography) and algorithmic
synthesis of electronic sound?

In the context of his new work Inhibition, Marinos Koutsomichalis present a
hands-on production workshop, introducing the participants to open
technologies, creative coding and hardware design, and guiding them into
making their own individuated headsets. The workshop will conclude with the
participants publicly showcasing their creative outcomes and performing
with them. Participants may then keep their headsets.

   - *Time*: 4 and 5 March, 10:00 - 17:00
   - *Fee: *200 Euro (including materials; you can keep the devices you
   make)

This workshop given by Robert Lisek uses randomness and machine learning
methods for creation of sound, visuals, performance, installation,
interactive media, physical computing, and networking. This is practical
course with the use of Supercollider, Pure data/Max Msp, Fluxus, Python,
Lisp and hacking analogue devices for detection, creation and amplification
of noise.

Introduction to bodymapping for sound generation

*Time*: 12 March 2017, 11:00 - 17:00

This workshop will give an overview of some of the most common tools for
tracking body movement for sound generation and sound control. We will
focus on two main tools:

   - Motion tracking with cameras: both a 2d camera as well as a kinect
   - Accelerometers

The following sensors will be considered: smartphone (bring yours!),
Senstestage1 and Myo2 The data provided by these sensors will be analyzed
with different tools and it will available to all participants during the
tests. Different possible strategies for using this data to produce and
control sound will be considered through a few simple examples using the
main sound generation softwares (Supercollider, Pd, Max/MSP, Ableton Live
with Max-for-live).

Participants are invited to bring one (or possibly more) concrete
situations where they would like to use this technology. We will take some
times for problem solving and suggest possible solutions.

:::::: WORKSHOP ::::::

Spatial design is a relatively new conceptual design discipline that
crosses the boundaries of traditional design, it can be used in stage
design, art, architecture. Artists and designers can adjust video
projections to spatial objects through the use of projection mapping. VJing
techniques would be applied in cases if artist would want to create
specific videos, mix them in real time and project on spatial shapes. These
complex systems are used in designing an immersive real-time visual
performances.

In this 5 days long workshop participants will learn about materials and
methods used in stage design, as well as how such software like Blender and
Adobe Illustrator can be used to produce three-dimensional sculptures.
Participants will learn about projection mapping - history and ways how
projection mapping can be used. They will practice projection mapping on
already made three-dimensional objects.

This full VJ workshop, taught by A-li-ce, is an invitation to enter the
live video field, giving you the theoretical and the technical tools to
develop your own live visual project. Each session is divided into 3 parts
: VJ theory, technical knowledge and your project's development. In the
first hour , we will explore VJ backgrounds and influences from visual arts
to cinema and music, focusing then on some topics such as the loop pattern,
the dramaturgy of the performance and the performing body on stage. The
second part of the workshop is dedicated to a full learning session of
Resolume Avenue VJ software and to trainings in order to play live great
visuals and to develop your live set. Each participant will be then invited
to play live in LC Lab

*SPEKTRUM* is a project space in Neukölln for idealisation, realisation and
exhibition of technology-based artworks, media-focused events and
futuristic utopias based on the principle "do-it-together-with-others". Above
all, we are an open space promoting participatory processes to co-define
and co-design a social and physical playground for curiosity and critical
understanding.
