School of Machines has a couple of 3-day workshop intensives this month!
First one begins tomorrow! Come join us!

*August 2 - 4:*
Machine Learning with Gene Kogan and Sascha Pohflepp exploring the
intricacies of computer vision and machine learning.

The first week led by Sascha Pohflepp and artist and machine learning
developer Gene Kogan, participants will prototype systems perspectives to
explore questions or design ideas in a hands-on fashion with the tools of
contemporary machine learning and artificial intelligence.

In the process, you will learn to build working prototypes that employ a
wide range of contemporary machine learning techniques. You will for
instance be learning the practicalities of training a neural network while
exploring new and unusual uses of such technologies.

In addition to exploring both technological and conceptual aspects of the
projects at hand, this program will thus enable you to build similar
systems for your own projects beyond the scope of this three-day program.

*August 10-12: *
LARP Design (designing human experiences) with LARP expert Susan Ploetz,
and designers Chris Woebken and Sascha Pohflepp:

In the second week led by Sascha Pohflepp, Chris Woebken and Susan Ploetz,
you will be exploring the use of live-action role playing as a technique
for speculative prototyping.

We will provide a thematic framework that revolves around a rapidly
changing world increasingly bound to be populated by non-humans, both
natural and artificial—such as advanced artificial intelligence (AI)
systems.

You will then engage with essential futures studies principles in order to
identify issues and questions of those emerging technologies. Working with
experienced LARP-designer and somatic practitioner Susan Ploetz you will
then design and ‘play’ characters, spaces and situations relevant to those
questions, practicing playful embodiment as a valuable tool to evaluate
probe those hypothetical socio-technical problems, leading to novel
approaches in a rapid and unusual fashion that is as fun as it is effective.
