[resource-net] Open Call to "Nemunas - New Man" festival on 3rd to 6th of July

Organizers of “New Man” festival are calling artists, galleries,
organizations and independent culture agents to present their projects and
ideas for the international music and contemporary art festival that will
take place in Druskininkai, first weekend of July (July 3-6).

 Aim of the festival:
To create program (exhibitions, concerts, lectures, movie screenings,
workshops, presentations, performances, installations), which would include
not only main territory of the festival (Summer Amphitheater), but also
Druskininkai town (public and private spaces, museums, galleries).
Organizers of the festival seek to create not only activities in the main
area of the festival, which consists of musical, interactive and
recreational program, but also to prepare a platform, which would allow
artists, curators and other cultural agents to realize their ideas in
cooperation with Druskininkai cultural and commercial infrastructure.

 Theme of the festival: NEW MAN
Progress is becoming one of the main imperatives of contemporary life,
which compels to constantly observe, document and be aware of the
consequences when having contact with the NEW. Not only thoughts about NEW,
but also person’s reaction to the NEW makes us ask: what is or should be a
MAN, who encounters NEW (ideas, concepts, objects, inventions, functions)
on a daily basis? What features and interests such person has? What is
important for him/her?  And, just in general, what is NEW MAN?
These, and questions related to the concept and vision of NEW MAN are the
main theme of this year’s festival.
 „New Man festival“ is about the human nature clash with modern technology.
You can also split the term “human nature” apart: concentrate on how the
perception of nature changed in the age of NEW, or how contemporary media
extends and redefines human being. It is also a redefinition of a festival
as such - large portion of it will be dedicated to arts and day-time
activities, promoting post-club culture and attitude. We are looking for
artists who focus on the topics of technology based art, post internet &
new media. Our idea is to analyze how technology and internet influence
human life. We hope to observe the human contact with the NEW and in this
way crowd source the answer to the question: what is NEW MAN?

Terms and conditions:

·         NEW MAN festival calls artists to propose projects in diverse
format and media, designated for diverse festival spaces and locations,
which analyses NEW MAN concept. Map of festival spaces can be found in the
attachment.
·         Artists, curators and organizations (further – Participants)
wanting to be part of the festival’s program, have to fill in the official
application form and submit it until 10th April.
·         Organizers have the right to extend the period of application
submissions.
·         Organizers have the right to ask for additional details about
projects from the Participants, to ensure thorough understanding of the
projects.
·         After examining all the applications, organizers will inform the
Participants about possibilities of presenting the project during the
festival.
