*_I_ LINGOR GRÄF#0*

A/V Performance by *HELENA LINGOR* <http://www.stromschnellen.net/> & *JENNY
GRÄF SHEPPARD* <http://jennygrafsheppard.com/>

QUESTIONS we aim to explore within Lingor Graf: How does digital
information become folded back into the physical, analogue sensorial realm
we also inhabit? How can we make visible that which is available as
information, but not yet perceived in a somatic sense. How can various data
sets be used as poetry to enliven or animate sound sources?

Lingor Gräf#0 is a new collaboration between Helena Lingor and Jenny Gräf
Sheppard that aims at the sonification of unheard phenomena in the realms
of the postdigital era.

By using data sets of various kinds (such as the average amount of
energy/per time unit used by social media or the frequency of memory
backlashes induced by using Facebook as opposed to ‘classic’ media) to
modulate specific sound sources or parameters of those sound sources, the
artists reveal connections and correlations of present-day phenomena that
are unperceivable through common sensoria. These data sets, normally stale,
statistical will come to life via spatial and sonic translation with this
series of pieces by Lingor Graf emphasizing the presence of the human body
in the midst of the virtual digital realm being referred to.

The first appearance of this project will consist of an A/V performance
where the correspondences of used graphs and sound events will be itemized
and semantic implications become obvious. Lingor Graf will be presented for
the first time at Liebig12. This is where Helena Lingor&Jenny Gräf Sheppard
(artist in residence August 2013) met for the first time.

*Helena Lingor* is a music journalist and a researcher in digital culture

*_II_ PLUG&PRAY*
Interactive A/V installation by *JÖRG BRINKMANN*

„Du sollst Dir kein Gottesbild machen…“

… überlasse dies Google.
Google still represent the most popular search engine, no matter NSA,
commercial priorities or censorship criteria.
What happens if you embarks on a search for “GOD”?
*plug & pray* is an interactive installation that reveals a contemporary
image of God based on Google´s search engine for images.
A computer is connected to internet and via a special software to Google
Image search.
Visitors who wear two gloves connected via USB to the computer, activate
the search process.
As the hands are held together in prayer, results are shown as a video
projection, accompanied by a chorus.
