CALL FOR FEMALE PERFORMANCE ARTISTS TO CREATE WORKING GROUP DEALING WITH
NORMATIVE GAZE IN PERFORMANCE ART *deadline November 13th

Anaïs Héraud and Katie Dunbar are looking into building a self-organized
group of female identified performance artists, who will meet regularly
over the course of the upcoming months and who will create a space which
will respond artistically to normative gaze directed at women in the
performance art scene.

The group will be tackling, amongst others, the following questions:
• How to confront the binary hierarchical system within the performance
art structures?
• What is the historical context of what it is to be a woman in art?
• How does the power of the normative gaze influences the perception of
our performance art work?

Working group
20th November 2013 – May 2014 - ∞
in the venue Westgermany, Berlin-Kreuzberg

This is a long term project through which the artists will aim to create
original performances together with the group, brought to a wider
audience. There is the possibility of showing the group's work during
the Month of Performance Art-Berlin in May 2014, in the same space where
the meetings will take place. The vision of this collective is to
continue meeting after May 2014.
