Hi Erika et al,

Thx Erika for reposting these basic interests + questions from the initial
meeting(s)... that's very helpful !!!

I was trying to think all day about how things got pulled a little off
track ( but to be honest, i wasn't 100% sure of which track ) and what
constructive perspective i could share...

> regular meetings, where curators and organizers can exchange
information, search for synergies, and discuss common strategies for PR,
fundraising and more. <

That's soooo doable : ) ... so now i'm Much More Optimistic !

...

There were 2 parts to this meeting, and maybe the delineation got a little
blurred.

1. >>open discussion and introduction of new people, new spaces,
questions, content, etc.<< as Markus writes

2. and a clearly formatted, pre-posted agenda, which was primarily
focusing on a digital platform for this new network... ( since these
spaces + projects could benefit greatly from exposure, and a hub, which
highlights this activity/territory in berlin. )

Maybe these 2 things could continue together in these (monthly) meetings,
part 1 - break - part 2, and/or there could already be a separate breakout
group to further develop this web platform goal/task.

( i have some suggestions for that platform, i'll save for another post )

...

ANd to add a little analysis...

I thought it was great that so many people from Transmediale could come to
take part... and i'm still trying to answer for myself Danielle's and
Kristoffer's questions...

1. What do the individuals here envision from this (network) ? (D.)
2. How can Transmediale be a resource for us ? ( K.)

( i hope i remembered those correctly )

...

For me, I have seen a number of Transmediales now, and there are often
fantastic social contextualizations and perspectives for new media's
impacts on our lives , i.e. the big picture. And i DO miss these kinds of
insights and this dose of gravity during the rest of the year...

But also from a critical side, there is an aspect of its
Spectacle/Festival nature, i.e. this "intellectual art circus" that comes
to town for a week, and then sort of packs up the tent and everybody goes
home... and those ideas do not generally take any roots.

So it was very ingenious AND logical that Re:Source began thinking of how
to be more engaged with the local terrain, local actors, local issues,
local infrastructures...

[ Is THIS not one of THE BIG and Important currents in the arts n tech
worlds ?? ... b/c well, u could say : 'showtime' is sorta over folks,
things are getting serious ! Things are getting very F**(sur)Real ! And We
ALL NEED arts, tech and science to help solve some huge social +
planet-scale problems. ]

...

Funny no one mentioned the economic crisis...

Somewhere along the line, i could hear at least one split forming in the
needs and desires in our gathering:

Those coming from a funded insitutional-ish side of things were seeing a
Furtherfield / Rhizome-like discussions forum + platform, and the galeries
and projects - which are often hanging by threads - struggling to find
practical ways just to proceed and keep their projects ALIVE ...

So this is going to be a trick to put these two things together, but i
think it will be a fascinating network for BOTH, to be in dialogue AND
praxis and support, and analyzing together.

i personally like the idea that we are forming an ALLIANCE of sorts...

all the best,

Paolo ( aka Pod )
