<strong>Sound art night with Alexander Rishaug & Andi Stecher</strong><br>
Alexander Rishaug is a sound artist and composer based in Oslo, Norway. His sound is melodic, melancholic and often quiet. Rishaug explores tones and textures through the use of electronics, field recordings and analog synths. Rishaug combines the intimate knowledge of his equipment with the curiousness of an amateur. The result is always a detailed, rich and subtle sound, with a sharp focus on structure, rhythm and stretched out melodies. His sonic landscapes build and expand slowly, thereby moving the listener along an exploration of the experience of time.<br>
<br>
Andi Stecher current focus lies on his solo compositions and live sets, usually a hybrid mix of polyrhythmic elements, field recordings, coupled with drones, heavy bass, synth lines and electroacoustic elements. For his live sets Stecher works with different techniques and tools (sidechaining / triggers / contact microphones / multichannel setups) to reach a natural and fluid combination of live played sound and digital + analog electronics.<br>

“電気神楽 - (Electro KAGURA)” is our unit’s name. 神楽 - (Kagura) is ritual dance for Japanese religion. We’re aimed at floating into Form and Classic and find a new tidal current. Both based in Berlin, the Japanese dancer Ichi Go and the French composer AXL OTL meet again artistically and personally for a tribute to this glorious and nontangible instant, when cultures and periods amalgamate naturally without any clash, proving again and again, because we have to repeat it without respite, that difference is harmonious.<br>

<strong>This session: Ryoji Ikeda</strong><br>
Composer and artist Ryoji Ikeda is one of the most important international representatives of media art and experimental electronic music. He creates synaesthetic installations that focus on the essential characteristics of sound itself and that of visuals as light by means of both mathematical precision and mathematical aesthetics. A pioneer in the world of minimal electronic music, his work is defined by its razor-sharp digital techniques and the purity of his sounds - often using only sine tones and noise, with frequencies at the edges of the range of human hearing. Comparable to a hacker, he enters the world of data and makes its hidden essentials – its code – visible: unfolding data streams and abstract computational processes to envelop the viewer in both sound and light. Often working on an incredibly large scale (such as NYC’s 55,000 sq ft Park Avenue Armory), Ryoji Ikeda elaborately orchestrates sound, visuals, materials, physical phenomena and mathematical notions into live performances and installations that are as unique as they are immersive.<br>
