For the upcoming edition of 2016, transmediale and CTM festival will again cooperate with the Berlin network of project spaces, galleries, independent cultural actors as well as cultural institutions. In order to commonly create and present a distributed programme of events by the various initiatives that are working in the field of digital art & culture and experimental sound & music, we want to warmly invite you to take part in <strong>Vorspiel 2016</strong>. </p>

<span style="line-height: 20.8px;"><strong>Concept of Vorspiel 2016</strong><br>
With Vorspiel 2016, transmediale and CTM want to continue the tradition of creating and strengthening the network and scene of cultural actors and institutions, which has been established over the last years. The Vorspiel is part of transmediale’s reSource for transmedial culture berlin programme and its efforts to strengthen the network of cultural managers, institutions and project spaces in the city of Berlin and around it. The network aims to connect different genres and practices for creating opportunities of common exchange and reflection and for bringing together communities and individuals which are dealing with art, technology, politics and identity in a critical way. </span></p>

<span style="line-height: 20.8px;"><strong>Call for Proposals </strong><br>
The call for projects for Vorspiel 2016 is addressed to independent project spaces, platforms, curators and artists in Berlin. In occasion of the upcoming edition of transmediale and CTM, the idea is to create a programme (with exhibitions, performances, concerts, presentations and other formats) that is distributed in the city of Berlin and its various and diverse project spaces, galleries and institutions that are dealing with digital art & culture and experimental sounds & music. It is meant to be a programme for the city of Berlin, presenting the variety and different approaches of the different cultural actors in a concentrated and energetic format, while also seeking to strengthen the dialogue with the two festivals. To create this link, the Vorspiel programme will take place before both festivals and go on for 3 weeks. It will start with a <strong>common opening event on 15th January 2016</strong> at <a href="http://acudmachtneu.de/">ACUD MACHT NEU</a> organized by transmediale and CTM for and with all participating venues and representatives of the city and the scene. </span></p>
<p style="line-height: 20.8px;">
<span style="line-height: 20.8px;">To avoid overlappings and develop a dynamic programme, transmediale, CTM and members of the network coordinate the event scheduling according to neighbourhoods and formats. </span></p>
<p style="line-height: 20.8px;">
<span style="line-height: 20.8px;">The costs for production and organization of the various events will have to be covered by their spaces and organizers, transmediale and CTM will organize the communication and promotion of the programme. </span></p>

For its 29th edition, transmediale reboots itself with a new performative and participatory format. Under the name Conversation Piece, the event creates an intensive space of exchanges, murmurs, and transitions, with dialogues initiated before the event and continued afterwards. Instead of a monothematic, static exhibition format, artistic and research practice will unfold live through discussions, lectures, workshops, temporary installations, and various experimental hybrid formats. </span></p>

<span style="line-height: 20.8px;"><strong>CTM 2016 <a href="http://www.ctm-festival.de/festival-2016/ctm-2016/">New Geographies </a></strong><br>
With the New Geographies theme, CTM 2016 aims to present a range of artistic forms from the present and recent past in order to explore the central roles that this hybridity and relational geography now plays in the global music scene. The 17th edition thus aims to explore music and sound practices that respond to these developments, and to provide the conceptual tools needed to approach the complexities of a polycentric, polychromatic, and increasingly hybrid (music) world with greater openness. </span></p>
